| Heres a key to our YECCH site just so you don't think we really believe all this. (We do believe the stuff we publish at swordandspirit.com, though.) More keys will be added as more misunderstandings come in
|
1) For a brief overview of our real beliefs, see the Philosophy page on our real site.
2) We believe the entire Bible is the written revelation of the God of the universe except maybe some parts of the book of Numbers that may have been added by over-zealous CPAs. ;)
3) Just as our gripe is not against Mormons, but Mormonism, and not against JWs but the Watchtower, our gripe here is not against those who adhere to a young earth interpretation of Genesis, but against their leaders. We have dozens of young earth friends and they are great people sadly mistaken, but great people nonetheless. The leaders, we believe, approach cult leader status in their insistence that they are absolutely right in their interpretation of well, everything, and that going against their extremely narrow version of things somehow morphs one into a heretic. (!)
4) No names were used on the site but we had a couple of real leaders in mind when we did it. One in particular was was no! we wont mention his name or even his alias, Dr Dino. But he should go cut himself a switch.
5) We believe the word that is normally translated day in the English can also be translated as a long, indefinite period of time. Therefore, we believe that the long day interpretation is a literal yes, literal - interpretation of Genesis.
6) As to the letter to a church discouraging the pastor to invite the old earth creationist: this is based on fact. There are people who write or call and emotionally threaten the pastor to cancel when they find out some old earther has been scheduled. (Its happened to me from a youth leader who didnt even know what I was speaking on! Thankfully, the pastor didnt cancel me.) We believe strong armed tactics are wrong. If you dont believe us well have to rough you up until you do believe us.
7) As to the evidences: These are all real evidences used by young earth leaders. We reject them all as bogus.
8) As to the easy-to-get doctorates: This is true, and doctorates are easily gotten by some leaders to give them an air of authority, one both deceiving and undeserved in our opinion.
9) As to evolutionist defined: Although we took a little license is defining an evolutionist, there wasnt that much. Unbelievably, we have been called evolutionists because we either 1) believe in the big bang, 2) believe in an old earth, 3) believe in a local Flood, 4) believe in animal death before Adam, 5) reject the belief that dinosaurs lived with man, etc., etc., etc. What any of these have to do with evolution is entirely beyond us. For the record we reject macro-evolution, accept micro-evolution, and believe (sit down!) that Adam and Eve were real people created from nothing (except maybe a rib in Eves case).
10) As to the Job dinosaurs: Yeah, right.
11) As to books by Hotie: There are some real young earth book publishers who shall remain nameless (and without integrity) who really did take their own book and dress it up like a Hugh Ross book, slightly changing the title. For all intents and purposes unwary people could look at the book and believe it was a real Ross book. We see this as shameless, but expected.
12) As to answers to evolutionists: We've actually heard many of these from the leaders of the YE camp. Some are verbatim! The key, apparently, to addressing honest objections is to resort to ad hominem fallacies and third grade "chops." sigh....
Beware! This is a satirical site (it ain't real!) brought to you from the otherwise good boys at swordandspirit.com
